There are many metaphors to be drawn from these flowers that herald Easter in dark, damp forests. Could their white petals speak of His purity? The turning of the white to purple before death, could they tell also of the purple robe He wore before His crucifixion? Might the tri-petals reflect a Trinity?
But I learned something new from the trillium this year.
Although they live in shadow, they follow the sun, keeping their faces always turned to the light. On this Good Friday, may you turn toward the Son as well.
