Today is the second day of Lent. Although this stretch of sacrifice and prayer only became a part of my calendar three years ago, it is becoming one of my favorite seasons of the year. We are still trying to understand how to practice this as a family, and in that journeying, I wanted to share some of the resources that have served and blessed us.

The wreath above was first used this Advent season, and with huckleberry branches promising life, it is now a reminder on our table of His journey to the cross.

The jar is filled with activities for observing Lent, one slip of paper drawn a day. I am using Miiko Gibson's lovely ideas, and we are all grateful for this daily reminder of working out this season's focus.

Some of the titles set aside specifically for reading this season are these: Devotions for Lent, Easter by Jan Pienkowski, The Tale of Three Trees: a Traditional Folktale  by Angela E. Hunt, and Passion Hymns for a Kid's Heart. May you know His peace in this season of remembering the gift of His life for yours.
