My challenge...and yours, Day 4 *edited

If you haven't read the first post in this series, will you do so now?

The place God calls you to is the place where your deep gladness and the world's deep hunger meet.
Frederick Buechner

I don't know your "deep gladness" or giftings, but here are just a few reminders of the world's "deep hunger" and great needs...

  • 5 million people die every year of water related illnesses
  • 143 million children are orphans, 15 million of those orphaned by AIDS
  • 1 in 6 adults in the world is illiterate
  • 25,000 people die each day of hunger or its related causes
  • It is estimated that a child dies every 5 seconds from hunger-related causes
These statistics and what I have experienced across the world have emptied me. Ann writes here about being broken...for Him and filled by Him and continuing to walk. Please read her post here, then listen for His voice and start walking...

"Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and the oppressed. Rescue the weak and needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked." Psalm 82:3-4
