Addis

We are in Addis! It is 1:00 p.m. ET time, but our computer (and our bodies) say that is it is 3:00 a.m. We are both feeling rough…most likely the effects of the nearly 9,000 ft. altitude and the continuing jet lag. We will need to feel better than this to be able to function. Just climbing the two flights of steps to our hotel room about did us in.

Addis Ababa is incredible. I don’t know how we could have been prepared for this…the beautiful people, pollution choked streets, exotic flora, extreme poverty within arm’s reach… We are seeing soldiers, armed with semi-automatic weapons, everywhere, but all seems very peaceful post-elections, and for this we are grateful.

We are writing now from the lobby of a hotel a short walk from ours, as their wireless allows us to check e-mail and post (at least today it does). We have a tiny wooden crib in our room, and tomorrow…we will write about Moses!

Oh yes, altitude can be a bear. It almost did me in when we were in Colorado...I can't image dealing with it AND jet lag. So excited to hear about that tiny wooden crib being filled with precious babe.
