A quiet day...

Eating grass...she still isn't used to sitting on a lawn.

Practicing walking in the ice cream shop.

It was a scorcher today...muggy, sultry and just plain hot. For lunch we ate ice cream by Hoan Kiem Lake, and after melting into the sidewalk cracks, we decided to head back to the hotel for a swim. Our taxi ride home was a fiasco. I think it was the guy's first day driving a stick shift, and I am not certain he had been in Hanoi before! We drove in circles, and he managed to make it the 4 miles back to the hotel ENTIRELY in first gear! We were all hot and cranky by the time we got home, but the dip in the pool was a treat. MyLinh loved the water, and we finally took her out once she started turning blue. I think she would have splashed all afternoon!

Just to show what a clever kiddo she is, we have to tell you MyLinh's new game. When she goes to bed, she looks at me, then drops her blankie (towel from the orphanage) over the side. She then proceeds to whimper imploringly. She is so smart! Of course, obliging mommy and daddy played their parts, but as this fun new game has lasted for over an hour on some occasions, we are trying to think of a new game to teach her -- chess, perhaps?

What a wonderful way to wake up.Get out of bed and head straight to the computer to see a smiling little beauty. To make it even more fun, a picture of another smiling beauty appeared. Thank you for making my day start with a smile. Your daughter will have lots of grass to play in when she gets home.
We love and miss you all.

MyLinh needs to come home and eat Pacific NW grass. Much sweeter and tender too, after you push the snow off.
As i walked through the slush in the Costco parking lot I was thinking of how wonderfull some heat would feel! Warms me up to look at your pics!

love you,
Colleen

At least your driver wasn't drunk!! On our drive to the airport when leaving Hanoi, I asked John if he smelled alcohol. He did not at the moment but later said, in fact, the driver was apparently drunk. He drove very fast, faster than most of our drivers had and it was MUCH more of a nerve-wracking drive... I actually loved most of our drivers.

LOVE your pictures of MyLinh... hmmm... a new game might be good. :)

It's strange to hear of muggy heat right now, we've had snow and slush for the past three days...Bundling up the kids right now to play...it makes us all eager to have you three home in WA finally! Praying for you, I know you're homesick and tired. Looking forward to giving you a "welcome home" hug! Love, Lyd

MyLinh has captured our hearts (many hearts) through your perfectly chosen pictures and words. Can hardly wait to meet her and hear her little voice sing and laugh. Her smile melts us; just love how her perfect almond eyes crinkle. Papa B. says that her blanket game brings Malcolm to mind. Next week won't go fast enough. We love you. Mom(too) and dad.

So I REALLY love hearing about your trip and new life with My Linh since I have gotten on the computer more in the last week than probably the last year! Right now it is 11:53 P.m. (Don't ask what I'm doing up voluntarily)and I had to check up with you guys!I am feeling your heat, smelling the fish, sensing the mood and feeling homesick with you and I'm actually sitting at home?!=0) You do such a great job capturing this trip! I sense homesickness and exhaustion buoyed by adrenaline?- keep drinking from Jesus, He's there with a HUGE smile I'm sure =0) and you will no doubt be dreaming of these days once you are home! I'm sure you miss the boys terribly, but how sweet sweet sweet to have all this time just with YOUR GIRL!!!!
