Korea

We are now in the Seoul airport with about 45 minutes until our flight to Hanoi! The 12 hour flight here was both exhausting and exhilirating. Neither of us slept with the tumult of emotions (and noise level of the cabin). We did enjoy some fun Korean food on board (complete with seaweed soup -- how about that, Monte B.!)

We brushed up on our Vietnamese via iPod while waiting in Seattle...we will get to practice it in a matter of hours! Yikes! I think Alex and I are able to say, "Excuse me," "No," "Yes," and "Do you understand English?" I am not certain how far that handful of words will get us. We had such hopes of getting a handle on the language! We are off...

We're following you!! We have just got the map out for the children to see where you are and where you are going. They were excited to see the plane picture - especially Eva who liked the colours of aeroplane. Glad to hear you are there safely. Thank you for letting us be your travel companions....

We found that we didn't need to know any Vietnamese when we were there in 2002 and 2003. We tried every now and then, but were clearly not pronouncing words correctly. Many people will actually approach you and start asking questions in English. I believe English is pretty universally taught in the schools there, so they want to practice their language skills. So glad you almost have your sweet one in your arms!
